The Company

Genus is a world leader in applying science to animal breeding. Worldwide sales are made under the trade marks of PIC for the pig industry and ABS for the dairy and beef industry. There are over 30 subsidiaries and associated companies worldwide for each species and the company operates in all major porcine and bovine markets around the world. Our objective is to provide our customers with the genetic component for profitable pork, milk and beef production. The company has been operating in Russian since 1995 and its Russian head office is in Belgorod.

Key Account & Business Development Manager


1. P&L responsibility to grow Sales Activity within Russia, Ukraine and Belarus.

2. Management of the Sales Team and development of Key Account Management approach.

Main Responsibilities

Sales related activity
  • Maximise profitability of the PIC sales function through increased volumes and unit margins.
  • Lead and develop the PIC Russia Sales Team.
  • Develop and implement Key Account approach to provide superior levels of service for our large clients.
  • Direct Key Account responsibility esspecially with clients who have foreign ownership and/or management.
  • Increase customer base within target segments.
  • Build strong relationships with key decision makers of clients and prospects.
  • Oversee business activity and growth opportunities in Ukraine where there are currently 2 part time staff.
  • Take additional business opportunities within Belarus where we have an Agent, and Kazakstan when they arise.
  • Leverage competitor analysis, plus implementation of effective target campaigns as required.
  • Liaise with the Production Services Department about support required for key Accounts.
  • Provide Technical Know How to the Production Department and Bovine segments according to specialty.
  • Keep up to date with product and industry developments and ensure sales team are up to date.

Key Measures

Performance will be measured against the following parameters:
  • P&L results; volumes, Gross Margin, expenses
  • Increasing profitable customer base.
  • Key Account retention.
  • Customer satisfaction and complaint levels

The Candidate
  • Proven track record in the Agricultural Sector, ideally pig breeding.
  • Business experience within Russia a distinct advantage.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic Russian language.
  • Currently living or able to relocate to Russia.

  • Reporting directly to the General Director.
  • A training and development program will be implemented according to the skills of the successful candidate.
  • Although the office is based in Belgorod a large part of time will be spent travelling to customer/prospect facilities. A Home Office base is possible for candidates who do not live in Belgorod.
Genetics/Production Manager


1. To manage the Genetic program at Nucleus, Multiplier and Commercial Units of a large client to ensure optimum dissemination of results are achieved.

2. Provide production support during the start up phase of the Nucleus Unit and oversee acclimatization of animals onto the Multiplication and Commercial Units.

3. Assist PIC Russia on other Genetic development activity as required

Main Responsibilities

Placement within a Key Account that includes; a fully integrated pork business which will double in size. A Nucleus Unit is currently being populated that will incorporate a full testing program including FIRE feeders.
  • Development/implementation of production and genetic targets for the Nucleus Unit that has 3 separate lines.
  • Design and oversee testing programs to ensure Genetic Improvement targets are achieved. `Oversee installation, management and training of local staff in the PICtraq computer system.
  • Provide production support and training of Nucleus staff in modern pig production and genetic management techniques.
  • Co-ordinate additional Technical Assistance that is required from PIC.
  • Develop and oversee a program for transfer, acclimatization and monitoring or animals supplied from the Nucleus Unit to Multipliers, Commercial Units and AI Studs within the clients system.
  • Provide production advice within other units of the clients system as required and agreed.
  • Build relationship with key decision makers within the clients business. Additional support work to the PIC Russia business (if time allows)
  • Assist with visits to clients and prospects as directed by Business Development Managers.
  • Preparation and execution of trials that demonstrate the benefit of PIC genetics.
  • Editing and preparation of genetic or technical articles and trials that can be used for in PIC marketing material and for publication in Russian journals.
  • Training and updating of local PIC Russia staff with technical updates and developments taking place in other parts of the world.

Key Measures

Performance will be measured against the following parameters:
  • Successful implementation of the breeding program and results achieved against genetic targets that are established.
  • Production performance at Nucleus and Multiplier level.
  • Customer satisfaction.

The Candidate

  • Experience in pig production including working at Nucleus level.
  • Dynamic and energetic mentality with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic Russian language and an advantage (an interpreter and training can be provided)
  • Ability to relocate to Russia for a minimum of 18 months.


  • Located at the clients Nucleus Facility in Belgorod Oblast, and also at the PIC offices in Belgorod.
  • Additional travel within Russia may be required.
  • This is initially an 18 month to 2 year project. On completion it is expected that alternative positions will be available.
