ANTIMICROBIAL RESISTANCE – WHO IS RESPONSIBLE?

Misuse and overuse of antimicrobials has been linked to the emergence and spread of organisms resistant to them, rendering treatments obsolete and threatening public health.

In the past, common practice had been to treat whole herds or flocks with antibiotics as preventative measures when one animal fell ill.

Antibiotics had also been found to stimulate growth when added to feed.

Now in many countries measures are being introduced to restrict these practices, but their use and the types of antibiotics that are used is still a question hotly debated.

Our short survey below will help give an insight into what readers - producers, vets, politicians, industry organisations and consumers – understand and know about the use of antibiotics and antibiotic resistance.

The survey is anonymous and answers will be recorded in strictest confidence.
