Russia Reports Two New Outbreaks of ASF
RUSSIA - The Russian veterinary authorities have reported two new outbreaks of African swine fever (ASF) in the country.

The World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) received follow-up report no. 3 on Friday, 18 June.
Both outbreaks took place in Rostovskaya. The first outbreak, which occured on 16 June, reveals that four swine were infected, while 277 were found susceptible to the disease. The second outbreak also took place on the same date, but in this case, wild boar were affected. Two cases were detected while 1000 showed signs of susceptibility. All affected animals, in both outbreaks, were destroyed.
The source of the outbreak is still under investigation.
On 16 June, direct immunofluorescence (DIF) and polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests were carried out at the Rostov Regional Veterinary Laboratory. Both tests confirmed the presence of the ASF virus.
